Episode 1 - "Tagged"

A grimy wall is covered in four-digit numbers and a voice is counting to a hundred. It's the voice of Kirill - a recluse who has hidden himself in a pit of bizarre scientific objects. Embittered and threatening, it's the voice of someone clinging to their sanity.

"Coming! Ready or not!"

His eyes open and he lets off a shot from a gun held in his hands. Startled, Kirill grabs a roll of gaffer tape to fix the rickety pipe he has just shot. Steam spurts from the pipe and burns his hands. Who is this bizarre man living in such hellish conditions? Is he imprisoned or is he here of his own will? A sound comes from the computer and the face of a young woman appears.

"Gotcha!"

He stares at the screen with a maniacal stare. He's found his prey. But we don't yet know what he wants with this girl. A look at the Kirill blogs reveals that it's Vivienne Villars - a young journalist. Viv's blog reveals strange goings on with the electronics in her house.

A freezing night in Kirill's dank enclosure: he stands silently with a gun in his hand. The voice-over makes first mention of a name for the grim setting: "Alexandri is powered by the sun. Nothing works without her." He doesn't elaborate, instead pointing the gun towards the ceiling in a threatening gesture. But wait, in the sights of the pistol there is a white dog looking down through the window - the same window we saw Kirill struggling to close in the previous episode. He climbs towards it. Is this a dream? He's overjoyed at the contact with a living thing, but he never opens the window. He wakes up with light pouring in through the window. The sun is back again. The mysterious dog is now one of the tasks on Kirill's bizarre to-do list: "Keep dog alive". We'll find the significance of the dog in a later episode.

Episode 5 - "Food"

Oh dear, poor Kirill seems to be losing it a little. "We are all just the sum of our parts and never truly alone," he mumbles. His self-imposed isolation has him taking on Ainsley Harriot in an episode of Ready, Steady Cook here, recorded on a battered old VHS. "The ingredients have to be there from the start!" he bellows at the monitor as the show conjures pesto from nowhere. But the idea sparks something within the mind of the fugitive scientist. He heads to a doorway that we've not seen him open before. The camera backs up to reveal a vast archive of papers, books and endless other scientific bric-a-brac. What is it all about? Likely, something to do with the "quantum entanglement" he was talking about early in the episode. "Everyone has a history," he says, speaking on an atomic level. The history of Kirill is all here...

Episode 9 - "Death"

Kirill is in a typically dark mood. He looks over to his list of commands on the wall. "Write everything down," is written in rough felt-tip. He plays back the cassette recording of his last, fleeting contact with Viv.

"Kirill sent me!" she screams desperately before being silenced by the anonymous foe. It pains him to hear her in trouble when he's powerless to stop it. Suddenly enraged, he takes a hammer to the tape player. He goes to the wall and tears down the mural dedicated to Viv, slashing at his carefully collected cuttings. Beneath the mural is a large symbol on the wall. Spelling the word "NOMI", it is the same symbol that hung from the neck of the mysterious dog that appeared in episode four. A look at Viv's blog reveals that she is sitting tight. The mysterious soldiers seem to be looking for scientists who have worked for NOMI at some point or another. Is Kirill one of the scientists they are looking for? Viv at least knows that someone is trying to get a message to her.
